Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) Research & Verification
In order to evaluate and ensure the accuracy of certain personal background information which adversely could impact a client’s immigration case, Law Offices of Wiliani-Malek will request, gather and verify the specific US government offices or agencies held records which may affect the legal process of certain cases through Freedom of Information Act (FOIA). Collection of the formal government agency’s information is processed under FOIA, the federal freedom of information law that requires the full or partial disclosure of information, records, and documents at the United States government’s possession.
According to the official definition (www.foia.gov), The Freedom of Information Act, or FOIA (5 U.S.C. 552, as amended), generally provides any person with the statutory right, enforceable in court, to obtain access to Government information in executive branch agency records. This right to access is limited when such information is protected from disclosure by one of FOIA’s nine statutory exemptions.
Law Offices of Wiliani-Malek has the expertise and experience in obtaining and in-depth analysis of FOIA of the case in review. This process provides omission of any unforeseen consequence due to the mistakes or misreported illegal activities on one’s records.
