Media has reported that foreign workers are once again able to apply for temporary visas. Last June, the Trump administration banned foreign workers from entering and applying for temporary visas; the administration alleged that the Coronavirus pandemic was to blame for ban. The ban has recently expired, and it is reported that President Biden is not looking to extend it. The ban primarily affected immigrants looking to apply for the H-1B or H-4 visas.
It is important to note that although new temporary visa applications will be accepted, consulate will likely be prioritizing applicants that plan to immigrate to the United States permanently. Therefore, there may still be a delay in visa approvals, in addition to the hundreds of thousands of applications already in backlog.
