New Versions of Form I-90 to Come

Mar 19, 2021

Update from USCIS: Since January 6, 2021, receipt notices for Form I-90, otherwise known as Application to Replace Permanent Resident Card, have been sent out to the proper recipients. When this receipt notice is displayed, along with an expired Form I-551 (Permanent Resident Card), it will be sufficient proof to demonstrate the lawful permanent resident’s status. Additionally, they can be shown to confirm the individual’s identity, employment authorization, as well as permission to reenter the United States.

Following the publication and deliverance of Form I-90 to the lawful permanent residents whose Green Card were set to expire before March 3, 2021, USCIS noticed that the receipt notices were printed on standard paper instead of secure paper. The updated, reprinted notices were dispatched by March 9, 2021.

While lawful permanent residents await their newly printed receipt notices, it is advised not to travel with a receipt notice that is printed only on standard paper.
