Green Card Expiration Extension

Jan 12, 2021

USCIS Update: Positive changes for Lawful Permanent Residents and I-90 applicants! Beginning this month, USCIS will be issuing lawful permanent residents a new sticker for their Permanent Resident Card (otherwise known as a “Green Card”). This sticker will give the resident a 12-month extension from the date of expiration on the card. The sticker will serve as a receipt for Form I-90 (a form that lawful permanent residents need to fill out when they are close to the expiration date of the Permanent Resident Card). This update allows lawful permanent residents the ability to return from temporary travel outside of the United States, employment authorization, and proof of identity. Applicants of Form I-90 who have a Permanent Resident Card but have not yet received a biometrics appointment no longer need to get temporary evidence of lawful permanent resident status from the application support center.

These stickers will arrive in the mail in as little as 7-10 business days after the application approval from USCIS. If you need assistance with this guidance or want to start your Lawful Permanent Resident immigration case, call Law Offices of Wiliani-Malek (714) 432-1333 today!
